Although innovations are usually associated with entirely new products or processes, it is shown that innovations on existing production return on investment really fast. Research improving process efficiency and product quality supports the competitiveness of your production plants today and tomorrow. VTT offers you the multidisciplinary know-how you need to achieve the goals.
In the theme Efficient Processes we present VTT’s activities and service consepts in developing production efficiency and production concepts. We cover the paper and packaging value chains from enzymatic treatment of pulp to printing process runnability and from carbon footprint to asset management. Our customers benefit from our versatile experimental facilities at laboratory and pilot scale. The research results can be verified in our unique research environments and in factory conditions. Take also the benefit of our modelling and simulation expertise that supports development activities.
In the production of paper or board, or in converting, some of the most difficult and important quality or efficiency problems are related to process variations. Improving mill process stability is seldom simple. It involves sophisticated technical tools, deep experience and the ability to bring together complementary disciplines. Chemistry, machine technology, mathematics and process control are all integral parts of the solution when VTT’s work is involved.
