R&D Breakthroughs in Biomaterials, Packaging and Media

"We have good experiences working with VTT from idea generation to technology upscaling." Ari Kiviranta, Research Director, Metsä Board

Creating high value from lignocellulosic residual materials

Lignocellulosic resources have a great potential in replacing fossil-based products. Together with its partners in the ValBio 3D project, VTT is developing technologies for production of sustainable and 100% bio-based materials from agro-industrial residues. These base materials can be turned into high added-value products such as biochemicals, bioplastics and biocomposites. They can also be used as a source of bioenergy.
