CEPI announced the results of its 2019 Blue Sky Young Researchers and Innovation Award held 19th November at Brussels, Belgium. VTT's researcher Ville Rissanen was selected as a winner, along with Marja Ahola from Technical University of Darmstadt and Birgit Lutsch from PTS Paper.
Ville was also selected as the Audience's Choice for the event. His presentation, based on a collaborative project between VTT and University of Turku, described sustainable carbon dioxide capture and chemicals production using "cell factory" platforms made from nanocelluloses and photosynthetic microalgae.
The award is about research and development; it is also about inspirational innovation for a sector moving towards revealing the bioeconomy potential.
